"Wear Me" is truly the little poem that could. I was doing a web search a couple years ago and was amazed how many times this poem had been shared. In fact, it was through that search that I learned that this poem had been published in a poetry collection, The 100 Best Love Poems of All Time by Leslie Pockell.
I know it would have thrilled my dad to see one of his poems included in a collection with Edgar Allen Poe, Walt Whitman, Lord Byron, Slyvia Plath, and so many other renowned poets.
Wear Me
I want you to wear me
comfortably,
as you would a dress,
or the silver necklace that you wear
around your neck.
Comfortably, so that I am always
next to you:
but most important--
something you decide
each morning to select.
