I want you to reach out and touch me
Almost as much as I want to reach out
                    and touch you –
Not knowing what you want
                    of need,
I comprise, and settle for
                    indifference?
After ten years
    what do we –
can we – take for granted?
We have been constantly inconsistent
        with each other.
Our quarrels stem from the need for
        independence.
Yet the essence of Love implies dependency.
I assume we both have hurt each other,
And are capable of additional hurt.
This eliminates the possibility of indifference.
I guess what I want most, is for you to reach out
        and touch me,
    almost…………

Because I Had A Need

Because I had a need to make you mine,
You were good, you were pure and you were fine.
You were my soul, and all my eyes could see;
And you were all that living meant to me.
Perfection, both in form and design –
Because I had a need to make you mine.

And when at last you dwelt within my shrine,
And I submerged my essence into thine –
I tasted of your nectar, versatile,
And dined upon your pleasure to my fill.
You became just another vintage wine,
Because I had a need to make you mine.
