Hide and Seek

Listen, my children
For I must tell
Why the world
Is going to hell.
We've polluted the waters
And raped the soil,
And now the world
Is out of oil.
Our food is depleted,
We've run out of gas;
There's not enough paper
To wipe your sweet ass.
Resources save for
A final fling:
A glorious war.
The world is playing
"Game of the Week,"
And now it's time
To hide and seek

If Only I Were

If only I were Irish
Then I would have a Cause
And gladly give my life
             and die

If only I were British
Then I would have a Cause
And gladly give my life
              and die

If only I were Asian
Then I would have a Cause
And gladly give my life
              and die

If only I were American
Then I would have a Cause
And gladly give my life
              and die

And if I were but White or Black
Arab or Jew, Greek or Turk
Red or Pink or Green
Or Christian, Moslem, Buddhist Priest
Or even somewhere in between
Then I would certainly have a Cause
And die, and die, and really dig the scene.
But I am just a human being
And afraid that if I get involved with that
It will really excite me
And just when I begin to expound my Cause
And say it's great to love and be
By then I'll be alone,
               for everyone will have already
               done their thing.
