Poetry of Robert E. Kogan — Poems of Life, Love & Social Commentary

My Dream

How I long to touch your hair

    and gently brush your cheek,

To hold your hand and meet your eyes,

You are all I seek –

I have known you all my life.

    I felt your presence,

long before the time you were born,

I clothed my thoughts and dreams

    in your embrace –

you are all I have ever worn.

For years I wandered lonely –

reached out – but nothing there.

I almost gave up hope of finding

another illusion in the air –

Then your words arrived last night –

    welcomed my desire to discover.

I knew the search was not in vain

Your soul found mine – we found each other.
