Poetry of Robert E. Kogan — Poems of Life, Love & Social Commentary

Lonely Days

Blank paper, waiting for words

to fill the empty pages.

Blank life, waiting for you

to fill the empty spaces.

I can fill all the lines

    with poetry that rhymes.

    creating illusions

    out of delusions

magic writing on a page –

words to you – unlock my cage.

Spring may come at any age

and you can fill my empty shell

with dreams that nurture me so well,

    by making each illusion seem

a thought you share, a dream you dream

        I will produce another play

        of magic moments every day.

I’ll give you both the sky and moon

and pray to God I’ll see you soon.
